So, I have been searching high and low to find a few homemade shampoos I actually like, that actually work (both very important!), that are easy to make. The reason for this search: I want an all natural, yet very inexpensive and easy way for me and my family to wash our hair! Well folks, the search is over and here ya go:
Shampoo #1
Ingredients
- 1 cup Castile Soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby Mild)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Baking Soda
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 ounce coconut/olive or castor oil, melted (I use castor oil)
- 20 drops essential oil of your choice (I use mint and melaleuca oil)
Instructions
- Melt oils, or have room temperature oils ready
- Mix water and baking soda together in a bowl
- Pour and then gently (so you don’t make too much froth) mix the castile soap with baking soda and water misture
- Pour in melted/room temp oil and essential oils and gently mix
- Pour into shampoo bottle
Shampoo #1 is fantastic if you have oily hair or only wash your hair a few times a week like I do!
Shampoo #2
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 2/3 cup castile soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s Baby Mild)
- 20 drops essential oil (i use Melaleuca oil and lavender oil)
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil or castor oil (I used olive oil)
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in empty shampoo bottle (I used a funnel)
- Shake
Shampoo #2 is perfect for folks who need to wash hair daily or for people with dry hair. Apple cider vinegar makes a fantastic rinse after using either shampoo and will make your hair extra soft/shiny!
I hope you enjoy these shampoos as much as my family and I have!
Thanks for visiting my blog and have a beautiful day-naturally! 🙂
