The next time you suffer from a stuffy nose, try this old Russian remedy:
- In a bowl, juice one clove of garlic with a garlic press, add a half teaspoon honey and squeeze out the inside of one aloe vera leaf.
- Soak two (medium-sized) cotton balls in the mixture and insert them loosely into your nostril for about five minutes (sounds weird, and also looks weird, but works wonderfully well!).
Why it works: Garlic has powerful anti-bacterial properties (it was used to fight soldiers’ infections in World War II when no antibiotics were handy). Honey is also antibacterial and works as an astringent. The aloe moisturizes sore nasal tissue.
Word to the wise: Prepare yourself for this remedy, because the smell of raw garlic juice can be a little hard to handle. However, you get used to it after a few minutes and you’ll love it once you can breathe again!! 🙂
So, try it if you dare (and you really will be glad you did!), and let me know what you think!
Thanks, and have a beautiful, healthy day – naturally!!
